It’s National Smile Month – So smile says Sarah Keytes!

It’s National Smile Month, So Smile…It suits you!

It’s May already! May is awesome because it’s my birthday month and it has TWO bank holidays! It is also is the month dedicated to making us smile. The annual National Smile Month is organised by leading health charity the Oral Health Foundation. It runs from 15th May up until the 15th June and aims to get us talking about our oral health.

Smiles are kept bright by following the 3 key messages.

  1. Brush your teeth last thing at night and one other time during the day using a fluoride toothpaste.
  2. Reduce the frequency of sugary foods and drinks.
  3. Visit your dentist and dental hygienist/therapist regularly.

National Smile Month

As a dental therapist I tell every patient I see the key to keeping a healthy smile. However national smile month asks us to spread this knowledge even further than the surgery.  The campaign reaches approximately 50 million people per year and is supported by some major brands in the dentistry world. These include Oral-B who are platinum supporters of the campaign and others such as Wrigley’s Extra and Phillips.

National Smile Month Messages

At Revive Dental Care we pride ourselves on helping our patients to understand their own mouths. Not just to follow messages but to understand why we give these messages and how these messages directly affect them as an individual.

If it’s been a while since you saw your dentist then make May the month that you visit us. You can follow the first two key messages from home however only a dentist or dental care professional can tailor this advice to you. We can also take care of the other important stuff such as oral cancer screening and examining for gum disease and dental decay.

If you are a new patient coming to Revive Dental Care for the first time, this information will help you
